Running out of time

My 102 (1 month from turning 103) year old great uncle died this week.
I will be traveling to the funeral with Rona, Husband will be staying at home, still searching for work.

I will be going with my parents, and petrol and accommodation are provided (staying with relatives, Dad gets free petrol for something or other).

So I will be gone for a while, and I have run out of time to schedule posts.
I will try to write when I get back.

Learning by accident

I love how Rona's mind works.

Recently, I brought out Twister, thinking she would like playing on the mat. Rona loved the mat, and decided to sort her toys out into the relevant colours.


We had to put one thing on each spot, she is nothing if not methodical

 
We reinforced learning about numbers, colours and patterns. All before getting out of our pyjamas ;)

Role playing with Rona

Rona loves to copy things she sees us doing, as well as what is on the television.
I found a  fabulous play kitchen second-hand for only $10, and Rona loves to "cook" me dinner.

Rona is also into letter boxes and receiving and sending mail. She loves to check our letter box each day, and open mail.
So I have made her a letter box she can send mail in and play with.

Happy 5th Anniversary

Husband and I have celebrated our 5 year anniversary.
I can hardly believe that it has been 5 years, it seems to have gone so fast, and it seems like forever at the same time.

Husband bought me the Willow tree figurine "Promise" for a present. He is so thoughtful.
I bought him red dahlias and some drum sticks (the 5 year anniversary traditional present is wood, and Husband is a drummer, so it seemed to fit).

We also went out to dinner (a very rare occurrence, maybe once a year) and we also went to see The Avengers at the cinemas.
Husband really wanted to see it, and it is kind of a tradition in our relationship to watch non-romantic movies for romantic events.

Bad news

Recently, Husband lost his job. His job was cut due to budget cuts, and he is really stressed about it.

At the moment, Husband is at home, trying to find work.
Rona loves having her Daddy home.

I am so very grateful that we have an emergency fund, so that we don't need to stress (too much) about money.

I am praying that Husband finds a job soon

Rona is a busy 2 year old. I can't believe that she is so very precocious. She knows the alphabet, can count to 14 (then skips to 19 and then 20).



Rona's Grandma made her a lovely beanie, it suits her really well.


I took this photo during a very rare day sleep. Rona has given up her day sleeps and I miss them terribly.
